Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture, the hometown of Kenji Miyazawa, is adjacent to a number of facilities where visitors can follow in his footsteps, including the “Kenji Miyazawa Fairy Tale Village” as well as the “Kenji Miyazawa Memorial Museum” and the “Kenji Miyazawa Ihatov Museum. The city is dotted with 30 “Kenji’s Famous Places” information boards, making it easy to make a well-planned tour of the city. Hanamaki City is also known for its “Hanamaki Hot Springs Village. Lead hot springs appear in Kenji’s children’s story “The Bear on Namekotoyama.”
